The Good News Stands Alone

Galatians 1:6-10

Question: What is it about the Gospel that makes it such “Good News?”
It is simple!
Everyone comes the same way!
It brings all from death to life!
It is the only way for all men to be saved!
It makes us all equal, yet not the same!
It is FREE!!!
Galatians 1:6 - The Consequences of Straying
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel”
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting”
“Quickly” refers to a short time; such a short time after he preached to them, or such a short time after the “false teachers” preached to them?
The Greek word translated by NIV “deserting” actually has no one word in English; it means:
to move from one place to another
to change one thought/belief for another
to change sides!
Acts 7:16 – bodies moved from Egypt to Shechem
Hebrews 11:5 – Enoch was taken
KJV = So soon removed
LB, JB, and NEB = turning away
Phillips = transferred your allegiance
The Message = turned traitor
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting”
Present tense = it is not a completed action
Middle voice = it is something they are doing to themselves!
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ
Does Paul really mean that if you abandon the true Gospel, you are deserting God the Father?!
Galatians 1:7 - Keep It Simple...or Else!
Which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gospel = Good News!
Everything else is not Good News
Acts 15:22-24: People who add to the Gospel are not new
There is no room in God’s plan for a Cross-less Gospel!

Final Questions
Have you been guilty of perverting the Gospel of Christ?
Is it possible you have fallen from the true Gospel?
Perhaps you are not even saved because the only gospel you have ever heard is the wrong Gospel?
