Paul: Not a People Pleaser – Part II
Galatians 2
- Review of Part I - Evidence that we can trust the Gospel that Paul preached:
- Exhibit A: Paul got his gospel directly from Jesus – Galatians 1:10-12
- Exhibit B: Paul verified this truth with the entire Scripture (OT) – Galatians 1:13-17
- Exhibit C: Paul checked with Peter only after 3 years of ministry – Galatians 1:18
- Exhibit D: Paul had a nice long talk with Jesus’ brother James – Galatians 1:19
- Exhibit E: Paul encouraged them to examine the change in his life – Galatians 1:22-24
- 1 Timothy 1:12-13 “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.”
- Philippians 3:4b-6 “If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.”
- 2 Corinthians 11:21-33
- Part II: The Evidence Mounts Up!
- Exhibit F: Paul sought confirmation after 14 years by bringing:
- a Jew (Barnabas) and
- a Gentile (Titus) Galatians 2:1-10
- Exhibit G: When even Peter’s life spoke against his gospel, Paul confronted him, and Peter had no answer! Galatians 2:11-16
- You Are the Jury
- Conclusion: Paul’s Gospel is that all men/women/children/rich/poor/of color and not/slave or free find salvation in none other than the work of Christ Jesus and Him alone!!! Galatians 2:17-21
